Thompson Palm Springs is now recruiting for an experienced Shift Engineer .?Thompson Palm Springs is the desert's most exciting destination tailored for influential locals and sophisticated globetrotters alike. Situated at the heart of the city's iconic Palm Canyon Drive, the hotel will offer a collection of 168 bungalow-inspired guest rooms and suites coupled with our total event space of 8,000 square feet plus additional outdoor and unique spaces. Thompson Palm Springs will also house its own mainstay dining concept that will feed into the menus at two bespoke pools and accompanying lounges. an impressive array of ground-level retail space spanning over 30,000-square-feet, guests will also have access to a state-of-the-art fitness center and a first-of-its-kind tasting room from HALL Napa Valley, with additional tenants to follow.

A Shift Engineer will be responsible primarily for general maintenance and repairs in guest room, meeting space, and front of the house areas, as well as back of the house areas including kitchen, laundry, electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems. A Shift Engineer will also perform preventive maintenance on major equipment and systems, using a windows-based computer system. Ability to read blueprints and schematics is preferred, along with basic trouble-shooting skills. A minimum of three years building maintenance experience is required with hotel experience preferred. Good communication skills are necessary.

This is a nonexempt (hourly) role. The budgeted rate for this role is $24. This is the annual hourly rate for this position that Thompson Palm Springs reasonably expects to pay. Decisions regarding individua hourly rates will be based on a number of factors including experience, and education.

Qualifications:

Open scheduling availability including morning, afternoons, weekends, and holidays.

Minimum 1 year of related experience preferred

Previous hotel maintenance experience preferred

A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast-paced environment.

Refined verbal and written communication skills

Ability to stand for long periods of time and walk moderate distances

Ability to lift, pull, and push a moderate weight (about 50 pounds)

Must be a team player but able to work independently as well

Able to multitask and prioritize assignments.
